Mentally challenged girl found pregnant after rape

A mentally challenged minor girl from a village near Nakodar was found to be three months pregnant after she was allegedly raped by three youth.

The matter came to light when the mother of the girl took her to a doctor after coming to know of her pregnancy.

The mother alleged that her daughter was raped repeatedly by three youths over a year, while she was away from home.

Following the complaint, the police booked three youth, including Nirmal Singh of Boparai Kalan, Jaspal Singh and Pinka, residents of Chakk Kalan village.

According to the Nakodar police, the police have arrested two of the accused, including Nirmal Singh and Pinka, whereas Jaspal Singh is still absconding.

Belonging to a poor family, the girl’s mother lives separately from her husband and works as a labourer to bring up her family. —TNS
