Minor gang-raped for six months by three youths

JALANDHAR: A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by three local youths for six months. The family of the victim, who belongs to a minority community and staying in a village near Jalandhar, alleged that their daughter was gang-raped by three youths from the same locality. They held her captive for six months in Bholath, Kapurthala district.

A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by three local youths for six months.

The family of the victim, who belongs to a minority community and staying in a village near Jalandhar, alleged that their daughter was gang-raped by three youths from the same locality. They held her captive for six months in Bholath, Kapurthala district.

Meanwhile, the victim got pregnant and could not go in for abortion as the time had lapsed for the same.

Her family members said they had filed a complaint with the Maqsudan police after their daughter got kidnapped. However, the police failed to trace the girl.

They said the police swung into action only after they approached senior police officials. Now, the police had registered an FIR against three youths for gangrape.

The family said had the police taken timely action on the complaint, their daughter could have been rescued.

Meanwhile, the police have booked Deepak and two unidentified persons in this regard and one of the accused had been arrested.

Speaking to Jalandhar Tribune, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Jalandhar Rural SSP, said he immediately took action in the case when he got to know about the incident. The police have arrested one of the accused.

“I will find out why did the police fail to take timely action in the case. Action against erring police officials will be taken,” the SSP said.
