The two-day Inter-Technology Universities Basketball (Boys and Girls) Tournament organised by Dr BR Ambedkdar NIT, Jalandhar, concluded here today.

Students from seven institutes — NIT Hamirpur, NIT Kurukshetra, SLIET Longowal, PEC Chandigarh, NIFTEM Sonepat, Thapar University Patiala and hosts NIT Jalandhar, participated in the tournament. In the girls’ category, the NIT Jalandhar defeated the NIT Kurukshetra in the final. Clary from the NIT Jalandhar was declared the best shooter of the tournament in the girls’ category.

Thapar University, Patiala, defeated hosts NIT Jalandhar in the boys’ final. Parteek from Thapar University was declared the best shooter of the tournament.

Dr Lalit Kumar Awasti, Director, NIT Jalandhar, presided over the prize distribution function as the chief guest.

Dr BS Kaith, Dean, Student Welfare; Dr Rohit Mehra, Registrar, NIT Jalandhar; Dr Gurmej Singh Dhaliwal, Director, Sports; Dr Sarbjit Singh Bal; Dr LP Singh and others were present on the occasion.

The chief guest motivated the students to participate in sports. He said sports inculcate the spirit of teamwork and discipline to players. He congratulated the winning teams and said such tournaments would be organised in the coming days.
