No headway in five murders in Nakodar

JALANDHAR: Nakodar has witnessed five murders in the past week, but the police have failed to make any headway.

Nakodar has witnessed five murders in the past week, but the police have failed to make any headway.Two double murders, along with the murder of a sarpanch, were reported this week making the number of murders five.

On June 9, a brother-in-law killed a woman and her paramour at Addi village. The deceased were identified as Lovepreet Kaur (25) and Ashu (27), both residents of Addi village.

The incident allegedly took place when the accused Bhinda of the same village found Ashu with his sister-in-law Lovepreet at their house. He attacked him on his neck with a sharp-edged weapon. When Lovepreet came to save Ashu, Bhinda also attacked her. Lovepreet and Ashu died on the way to the Civil Hospital Jalandhar. The police said Bhinda was at large.

Just after three days, another double murder was reported in which a man and his son were killed. The accused Lakhbir Singh was known to the victims Puran (45) and Sandeep (14).The police said Puran was with Lakhbir on the night of the murder and both were having dinner.They fought over some issue. Lakhbir attacked Puran with a sharp-edged weapon.

Puran’s son Sandeep came to look his father when Lakhbir attacked Sandeep to death. In this case, Lakhbir’s son Lovepreet is also an accused. While the former is on police remand, the latter is at large.

On June 13, a 60-year-old man Gurpal Singh was beaten to death at Jago Sangha in Nurmehal village over a land dispute.

The police said the accused were at large. The police had registered an FIR against Satinder Kaur, Sukhwinder Singh, Lakhwinder Singh and Harmel Singh under IPC.
