In the wake of the Independence Day celebrations in the city, the Jalandhar police have made elaborate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the mega event.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioners of Police Rajinder Singh and Gurmeet Singh, who held detailed deliberations with officials at the Guru Gobind Singh Stadium here today, said foolproof security arrangements had been made by the police for the celebrations.
They said the entire area around the venue of the event had been cordoned off and 800 police personnel had been deployed to keep a strict vigil. The officers said CCTV cameras had been installed at the venue for keeping a regular check in and around the stadium.
They added that security had also been enhanced in the city to check anti-social activities. They said a round-the-clock vigil was being kept in the city for which various patrolling parties of the police officials had been formed.
Meanwhile, both officers also visited the stadium to review the security arrangements at the grassroots level. They said a control room had been set up at the stadium to monitor the situation.
Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police B Sudarvizhi and Gautam Singhal; Assistant Commissioners of Police Mandeep Singh, Sameer Verma, Navneet Singh Mahal, Parminder Singh and Kailash Chander were also present on the occasion.
