Ponds of 26 villages to be spruced up under MGNREGA

Mission Tandarust Punjab is proving beneficial for 26 villages of Nawanshahr district. The ponds of these villages would be spruced up in the next few days under MGNREGA.

ADC (D) Davinder Singh said under Mission Tandarust Punjab, the Rural Development and Panchayat Department had undertaken the project of cleaning up of village ponds. In first phase, the ponds, which are in extremely critical condition, would be undertaken.

All the Block Development and Panchayat Officers have been directed to identify five villages per block to undertake the work of cleanliness.

The officer said a meeting of all the MGNREGA workers and residents of these villages was called to start the project under which these ponds would be dewatered and afterwards a cleanliness would be carried out by undertaking deep-digging.

He said under Mission Tandarust Punjab, maximum number of village ponds would be cleaned so that villagers can get a healthy environment by planting saplings near these ponds.

He said in first phase, Gunachaur, Sakohpur, Kharkuwal, Kamam and Gehal Majari of Aur block, Jandiala, Heon, Kaleran, Ladhana Jhikka and Burj Kandhari in Banga block, Palli Uchchi, Bheen, Karyam, Hansron and Bairsian in Nawanshahr block, Rakkran Dhahan, Begumpur, Rurki Kalan, Mangupur, Allowal and Saroya villages in Saroya block, Garhi Kanugoan, Mansewal, Sudha Majra, Kulewal and Aklyiana in Balachaur block’s ponds would be spruced up soon.
