Jalandhar, December 10

Whenever it rains, the city residents get reluctant of going towards Preet Nagar as the area turns into a big swimming pool. The road that starts near Sodal Mandir and extends up to the Doaba Chowk becomes a nightmare for the residents here whenever it rains. Many unfortunate incidents in the past have also happened here in rainy season. There are other problems too, but this particular issue has taken a toll on the normal lives of the residents living in this area. The area is covered under Ward no. 61 and 62.

A local fruit vendor said, “In all these years, I have not seen even a single monsoon season, when people have not cursed the government for not doing anything.

Rajesh Kumar, a businessman living in that area said, “Be it the municipal corporation elections or the assembly elections each time our single demand to the candidates is solve the water logging problem,”

A resident of preet nagar said, “Such is the condition that sometimes we feel that we need a boat to venture out during the rains,”

Vipan Gulati, a shopkeeper said its hard to understand why can’t the authorities take any action on this problem. They all know very well that commuters, especially vehicle owners face a tough time while crossing the road.”
