Jalandhar, June 14

The district administration on Thursday sought the support of the NGOs and the youth clubs to make Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) campaign a success in the district.

Chairing a meeting with the representatives of NGOs and the youth clubs here at the District Administrative Complex, Sub Divisional Magistrates Paramveer Singh and Rajiv Verma said this mass movement could never be successful without the proactive support of the NGOs and the youth clubs.

They solicited fulsome support and cooperation from these organisations for making this anti-drug campaign a mass mobilisation programme. Both the officers said this 360 degree comprehensive strategy was aimed at wiping out the curse of drugs completely.

They said efforts have already been made to cut the supply line of drugs but for the first time, a serious effort was being made to check the demand of drugs by motivating people to be partners in this cause. They said drug addicts are not criminals, in fact they are victims, who need to be brought into the main fray through this initiative.
