Seminar on rail traffic

PHAGWARA: At a safety seminar organised at Phagwara railway station today, Ferozepur Divisional Traffic Manager SPS Bhatia deliberated upon various safety issues and said there was a dire need to sensitise the railway staff on exchange of signals and proper communication, as in the past few years, various accidents had taken place due to human errors.

At a safety seminar organised at Phagwara railway station today, Ferozepur Divisional Traffic Manager SPS Bhatia deliberated upon various safety issues and said there was a dire need to sensitise the railway staff on exchange of signals and proper communication, as in the past few years, various accidents had taken place due to human errors.

He said due to a lack of communication during the exchange of signals by the staff, there have been major accidents. He suggested that the movement at every end should be monitored and adequate staff must be deployed to avoid any mishap.

Employees raised an issue of the shortage of staff which affected their efficiency. The seminar was attended by around 35 employees of the mechanical, engineering and operational wings of the railways from Phagwara, Goraya, Phillaur and Jalandhar Cantt. Traffic Inspector, Ludhiana, RK Sharma, Traffic Inspector, Jalandhar, Hari Dutt Sharma, Station Superintendent, Phagwara, Bhushan Nandwani and Station Master Gyan Chand were also present.
