Student goes missing

Phagwara: The police have registered a case under section 363 and 266A of the IPC against a security guard of Lovely Professional University (LPU) identified as Raj Kumar on the charge of abducting his minor 15-year-old daughter studying in Government High School at Chiherru on the pretext of marrying her. The case was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by a resident of the village, Vijay Kumar Singh. The complainant said the girl had been missing since Saturday and was confident of the accused having abducted her. The police are investigating the matter. OC

Man killed in mishap 

Phagwara: Rohit Kumar, a local resident, reportedly killed on the spot when his bike was hit by unknown vehicle on the Hoshiarpur road last night. The police have registered a case under section 304A, 279 and 427 of the IPC against the driver who managed to flee after hitting the bike. The body of the deceased was handed over to his family members after the post-mortem examination conducted at the local Civil Hospital. OC 

Three booked for assault

Phagwara: The police have booked three persons including  Sukhwinder Singh of village Kahna-Dhesian, Jaspreet Singh and Rinki of village Wadhala under section 341, 323, 324, 427, 148 and 149 of the IPC on the charge of attacking the complainant and  damaging his car. The complaint was lodged by Gurpreet Singh, a resident of village Behram. No arrests have been made so for. Personal rivalry is said to be the reason behind the attack, police said.  OC
