JALANDHAR: Ex-Mayor Surinder Mahey today held a show of strength at Bootan Mandi this afternoon, expressing his resentment at the announcement of the Congress ticket for sitting MC councillor Sushil Rinku from Jalandhar West.

Ex-Mayor Surinder Mahey today held a show of strength at Bootan Mandi this afternoon, expressing his resentment at the announcement of the Congress ticket for sitting MC councillor Sushil Rinku from Jalandhar West.

He told the gathering that he had conveyed his annoyance to the party high command and sought the ticket for himself. “I have worked for the party diligently all these years. I will wait for change till tomorrow noon. If it does not come, I will contest independently from Jalandhar West,” said the former Mayor, who hails from the Ravidassia community.
