The Jalandhar Rural police have arrested three members, including the king pin, of the Sheru Dheerowalia gang here today. The police were patrolling near Dheerowal village in Adampur when the accused were held.
The accused have been identified as Satnam Singh, alias Sukhi Dheerowalia, (35); Samuel, alias Lucky, (37); and Bhupinder Singh, alias Bhinda, (31). The police have recovered two pistols, a revolver, seven cartridges, intoxicant powder, and a car from them.
SSP Rural Gurpreet Singh Bullar said Sheru Dheerowalia, who was the kingpin of the gang, was murdered in Mandi of Himachal Pradesh some years ago. Thereafter, Satnam Singh started leading the gang, he added.
The SSP said Satnam started smuggling narcotics.
The police said the .32 countrymade revolver was bought by Samuel from Kanpur and later, he gave it to Satnam.
Samuel also started selling illicit liquor while Bhupinder Singh is a former kabaddi player.
