Training on energy conservation building code

A one-day training programme on Punjab Energy Conservation Building Programme (ECBC) was held on Monday at CT Institute of Architecture and Planning (CTIAP) under the patronage of the CT Group of Institutions at its Shahpur campus. It is an initiative of Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Global Environment Fund (GEF) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) and National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research. These organisations are jointly organising these 37 programmes in Punjab to impart training on newly-passed Punjab Energy Conservation Building Code. Punjab is among the first 10 states in the country where this code will be implemented. Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman, CT Group of Institutions, Manbir Singh Managing Director, inaugurated the event in the presence of other dignitaries. Er Gautam Kocher, Principal, CT Institute of Technology, presented the bouquet to the chief guest. Er Aman Makol, Er Surinder Bahga, Engineer Kushagra Juneja, Engineer Kishan Khatri introduced the theme of the programme. Officials from Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) explained on the steps being taken by PEDA about promoting non-conventional energy. Raminder Singh from PEDA explained about efforts being made by newly established ECBC cell in PEDA for implementation of this code in the state. Er Ashish Kapoor (NITTTR) said as per the records of Government of India in 2012, 34,884 villages were without electricity while almost 59% people were using fuel food for cooking and other productive activities.

Workshop on quality assurance

Students of the Innocent Hearts Group of Institution, Lohara campus, attended a one-day workshop on ‘Quality assurance and quality control in medical laboratory technology’ in which students of B.Sc MLS (Sem II and IV) visited Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. A group of 30 students was accompanied by Harpreet Singh, Head of the MLS department along with other teachers. Fruitful knowledge was given to students about how to acquire and maintain quality assurance and quality control in medical laboratory.

High scores

The Kamla Nehru College of Education for Women, Phagwara, celebrated the success of students with the declaration of university results of B.Ed (Semester I and III). In Semester I, Rajwinder Kaur stood first in the college with 78% marks. Roshni Batta was second and Shivani Thakur got the third position. Seven students were able to score above 70% marks. In Semester III, three students, Jaskarandeep Kaur, Sonia and Ashika Sood stood first with 93% marks, Deepti Walia was second with 92.25% marks and Balpreet Kaur and Manjit Kaur were third with 92% marks. Twelve students scored above 90% and 31 students scored above 75% marks. The college managing committee and Principal Dr Harvinder Kaur congratulated students and staff for their hard work and dedication and encouraged them to keep pursuing the goal of learning and achieving success in all fields of life.

Blood donation camp

Fifty students and staff members of the Lyallpur Khalsa College donated blood at a camp organised in the college. Dr Navjot Mahal, DCP, Jalandhar, was the chief guest for the programme. Organiser of the camp and in-charge of the centre of youth affairs, Dr Tarsem Singh said Dr Gagandeep Singh, BTO, Civil Hospital and Sudeep Dhillon, Councillor BTO oversaw the proceedings of the camp. College princpial Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra emphasised the need of blood donation and highlighted its relevance in the medical setup of the country. Prof Dinkar Sharma, Prof Palwinder Singh, Prof Sonu Gupta and Prof Sonia Nayyar were among the staff members to volunteer for blood donation. Dr Navjot Mahal awarded certificates to the participants. College Registrar Prof Jasreen Kaur, Dean, Academic Affairs Prof Talwinderpal Kaur, Prof Jaswinder Kaur, Prof Gagandeep Kaur, Prof Balwinder Singh Chahal, Prof Simranjit Singh Bains, Prof Harjit Singh, Prof Charanjit Singh, Prof Gagandeep Singh, Prof Ratnakar Maan, Prof Upma Arora, Prof Amanjot Kaur and Prof Ubique were present.

IT Fest

DAV College, Jalandhar, on Tuesday organised the ‘IT Fest- 2017. The event started with a lamp lighting ceremony by Principal Dr SK Arora while Head of the IT department Prof Nischay Bahl and IT forum president Prof Rajeev Puri welcomed the chief guest, Gurvinder Singh.

Awareness campaign

The Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus is organising a three-day entrepreneurship awareness campaign from March 28 to March 30 under the aegis of National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The programme is being held under the patronage of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad. Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director, Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus, was the chief guest of the inaugural session.

Faculty development programme

The post graduate department of commerce of DAV College organised a faculty development programme-cum-workshop on the emerging issues on accounting, GST and corporate legislation in association with the Jalandhar Chapter of Northern India Regional Council of the Institute of Company Secretary of India. The key objective of the workshop was to make participants aware about the Goods and Services Tax and all related legislations and also about the emerging issues in the field of accounting. Founder head of the department of commerce Prof CM Juneja was one of the chief guest and Principal Dr SK Arora, Vice Principal VK Sareen, Company secretary Mohit Saluja chairman, Jalandhar Chapter, NIRC and CS Amit Vinayak, secretary, Jalandhar Chapter, NIRC, welcomed the chief guest.
