Jalandhar, February 18
Acting on the complaint lodged by Rupinder Kaur, a resident of Mubarkpur Shekhe, Jalandhar, the city police today booked Sonepat resident Suresh Mor, who had beenrunning a travel agency by the name of ImperialEducation near the local bus stand.
The police also arrested Mor’s aunt Sumitra, one of the accused in the case, on the charges levelledby Kaur.
Besides the travel agent, his wife Shivani Suresh Mor, mother Babita and aunt Sumitra have been booked by the police.
The action was initiated following instructions by Commissioner of Police Jalandhar Arpit Shukla and Gurjatinder Singh Aulakh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Jalandhar.
The accused have been booked under Sections 406, 420, 120-B of the IPC.
Rupinder Kaur had lodged the complaint against the agent, charging that she had been duped by him in the name of sending her abroad.
Twenty-six passports and other documents were recovered from Sumitra after her arrest.
While the accused have been charged of duping people to the tune of Rs 5 crore, the police have also received 20 complaints against them.
