Bringing home another moment of pride, students of Sanskrit KMV School participated in the 10th Sub Junior National Amateur Soft Tennis Championship (boys and girls), organised by National Soft Tennis Federation of India at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.



Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organised an awareness drive on ethical voting. In continuation with the ongoing events, the department of political science in collaboration with the NSS and department of students welfare organised chart making, slogan writing and rangoli making competitions which was followed by an interactive session. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi addressed students on ethical voting and encouraged them to use their right to vote. She told them to vote by thoroughly studying candidates’ agenda, the party’s manifesto and rise above biases while casting their valuable vote. Political Science head Aashima also motivated student volunteers to educate their parents about ethical voting. Dr Madhumeet, Anupam and Sonik Bhatia were also present on the occasion.

Lohri for girls

The Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, in collaboration with the Sarv Sukh Sewa Mission celebrated ‘Lohri Dheeyan Di’. The event was organised to celebrate the girl child in the society and make people aware about the important roles a woman plays in building peaceful and progressive society. On this occasion, 10 women, who have earned dignified positions in diverse fields were honoured. The honoured personalities included Dr Sucharita, Principal, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar; Dr Sushma Chawla, gynecologist; Shruti Shukla, Deputy Director, SCERT Education Department, Punjab; Bhavna Pushkar Sandal, Jaskaran Kaur, Seema Soni, Vandna Walia, Samratia Sachdeva, Gurbaksh Kaur and Loveleen Kaur.

Faculty development programme 

A seven-day faculty development programme on "Modelling and simulation of engineering systems" got underway today at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University Campus in Jalandhar. Prof (Dr) AK Paul, Vice Chancellor of DAV University Jalandhar presided over the event. The Punjab Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (PITTTR) and the department of electrical engineering of the university jointly started the seven-day faculty development programme under the guidance of Dr NP Singh, dean, planning and development, which will conclude on January 15. Thirty experts from across the region are participating in the programme. The experts were drawn from IITs, Thapar University, PU Chandigarh, Central University, HP, and senior faculty members of IKGPTU for the programme. Prof Paul congratulated organisers for the initiative which would help in improving research skills of the participants and motivate them to take up challenges. The coordinators of the programme, Dr Jaspreet Singh Chahal and Dr Rakesh Goyal, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr BP Garg, Registrar PITTTR, Prof (Dr) Avtar Singh Buttar and Prof Gagandeep Kaur were also present on the occasion. —TNS
