Website of Kapurthala police not updated

PHAGWARA: Despite the tall claims made on making the Punjab Police a modern force equipped with the latest techniques and the latest in infrastructure and manpower, the Kapurthala district police seems to be lagging behind in terms of timely updating details, including the FIRs registered, e-filing of complaints and NRI complaints, among others, on its official website.

Despite the tall claims made on making the Punjab Police a modern force equipped with the latest techniques and the latest in infrastructure and manpower, the Kapurthala district police seems to be lagging behind in terms of timely updating details, including the FIRs registered, e-filing of complaints and NRI complaints, among others, on its official website.

A visitor to the site has to know the details, including the FIR number and the name of the complainant and the accused. It is only then that one can know the details of a particular case.

Further, since the data available is not date-wise as was being noticed around four years ago, when a visitor could click and find details of any police station, a visitor should now first know the FIR number which is a difficult task for an ordinary citizen.

Sandeep Sharma, SSP, Kapurthala, said the FIR should be uploaded in virtual time. Interestingly, the website of Kapurthala police has a column on ‘Press releases’, but when clicked, the column showed last press release issued on October 30.

One more column of ‘Accidents’ was found on the website. But when clicked, it showed that no accident had occurred after December 20 last year in the entire district.

Several other columns were found non-operational and could not be updated. An FIR, number 12, registered by the Satnampura Police, Phagwara, and FIR no 38 and 39 registered in Sadar Police, Phagwara, could not be found uploaded on the website at the time of filing the news report. The Website was showing ‘no records available of police station, Satnampura and sadar police, Phagwara’.

When the SSP’s attention was drwan to it, he expressed surprise and assured of taking steps to facilitate the people.
