Jalandhar, August 23

With the death of two dengue patients here today, the toll for the city touched three.

Mohinderjit Kaur (64) from Jalandhar and an unknown person Kala Bakkra died today. They were admitted to the local Civil Hospital.

Eleven-year-old Rajvir Kaur from Ravidas Nagar had died due to dengue yesterday.

Despite the fact that the Health Department had made large claims of surveying the affected areas and carrying out regular drives to spread awareness, the dengue epidemic seems to have been spreading its tentacles in the area rapidly.

The Health Department had also claimed to have sprayed insecticides through the city, apparently in vain.

The worst-affected areas are said to be Rattan Nagar, Amanat Pur, New Hardev Nagar, Mohabbat Nagar, Lamma Pind, Basti Bawa Khel, Chak Guru, Rasti Mohalla, Sekhwan Khu, New Dashmesh Nagar, Bhogpur and Jamshr Khass.
