As many as sixteen more patients, suffering diarrhoea, were admitted to the Civil Hospital today. Nine patients were referred to the Civil Hospital yesterday. Till late evening, the total number of patients, suffering from diarrhea, and admitted to the Civil Hospital rose to 15. Presently, the total count of diarrhoea patients from Giaspura at the Civil Hospital stands at 31.

The Health Department is continuing with its medical camp in the Giaspura area after the diarrhoea outbreak was reported yesterday. During the camp, 163 patients were found to be suffering from mild diarrhoea.

Teams of the Health Department visited 1,769 houses and distributed 1,062 chlorine tablets and 231 ORS packets in the area today.

“We are making efforts to make the people aware of diarrhoea and instructing them to maintain hygiene. As many as 145 group meetings have been held in this regard. Thirteen teams of the Health Department, which are active in the area, are educating people about the disease,” said Dr Ramesh, district epidemologist.
