2 hurt as mini-bus overturns

As many as two passengers were critically injured, when a mini-bus they were traveling in, overturned while overtaking a car on the Ludhiana-Ferozepur highway. The accident took place near Lal Palace Cinema in Jagraon today.

The injured passengers have been identified as Pardeep Kaur, a resident of Amargarh Kaler village near Jagraon and Lakhvir Singh of Galib Kalan village near Jagraon. They were rushed to the Jagraon Civil Hospital, from where they were referred to a Ludhiana hospital due to their critical condition. As per the information, the private bus was coming to Jagraon from Bhinder Kalan village. As soon as it reached near Lal Palace Cinema, it overturned while overtaking a Tata Indica car. It fell on the car, which was damaged badly. However, the car driver had a miraculous escape. Soon the police reached the spot and rushed the victims to the Jagraon Civil Hospital. Sources said the mishap took place due to over speed. 

ASI Harmesh Kumar said the police have confiscated the mini-bus. “The police have recorded the statements of the passengers traveling in the bus and an appropriate action would be taken after thorough investigation,” said ASI Harmesh Kumar. No case was registered till the filing of this report.— OC
