Ahmedgarh, August 12

Residents see a ray of hope in the newly constituted team of office bearers of municipal council which will be led by President Shiraj Mohammad.

Repair and construction of roads, besides strengthening of the sewerage are among major demands of the residents. Dehliz Road, Jagera Road, Ambedkar Chowk, Pohir Railway Crossing Road, Gurdwara Sahib Road and Bajrang Akhara Road were among those areas, where slow pace of work had affected normal life

They (residents) were perturbed over the slow pace of development projects which were started at a fast pace before the implementation of the model code of conduct ahead of last assembly elections.

As all posts of president, senior vice-president and vice-president were lying vacant from a long time, the civic body officials and contractors were least bothered to providing basic amenities to the residents.

Suspended projects had made the lives of the residents miserable and certain roads and streets had made the area virtually inaccessible.

Providing residents of the town and surrounding areas with adequate civic amenities became a major challenge for the councilors as the orders of the SDM Ahmedgarh, Preety Yadav, has fallen on deaf ears of the concerned officials at the civic body.

The newly elected President Municipal Council, Shiraj Mohammad, said he would take stock of situation immediately assuming charge of the office and necessary steps would be taken to enable residents live a dignified life. “Instead of starting new projects we will first complete the pending projects which have since been disturbing normal life of residents,” said Mohammad.
