Ludhiana, August 10

The district administration has proposed to equip all Anganwadi centres with solar fans. Centres which do not have the fan facility till now will be covered in the first phase and the remaining will be covered in the second phase.

Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Aggarwal said 2,400 centres were being run by the government in Ludhiana district. Out of these, 314 centres did not have the fan facility, he said. “To fulfil the basic requirements in the centres, the district administration has proposed this initiative. Accepting this proposal, Jagraon-based AP Refinery has taken the responsibility to get 70 solar fans installed in Jagraon and Sidhwan belt.”

He said though the total cost of a solar fan and its installation charges would be higher than that of an electric fan, but it would be cheaper in the terms of power consumption and bill. The 100-watt panel would work for 25 years. Moreover, the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) would give the maximum subsidy.

He directed the District Manager, PEDA, Anupam Nanda, and District Programme Officer Rupinder Kaur to try to get all centres equipped with solar fans till December 2017.
