The city police claimed to have solved the kidnapping-cum-loot case, in which a factory worker was the victim. The police have arrested four persons in the case and also recovered a pistol, Rs8,000 cash and a motorcycle from them.
Those arrested have been identified as Paramjit Singh alias Pamma, a resident of Tajpur Road; Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, a resident of EWS Colony; Harbhajan Singh alias Harry also of EWS Colony and Sarabjit Singh alias Sabi of Kishore Nagar.
ADCP Sandeep Garg, at a press conference, said after the loot case was reported, the police had been keeping a tab over the movements of the accused and today, after getting a tip-off about the whereabouts of the accused, a raid was conducted and they were arrested.
Notably on August 3 night, four armed men had kidnapped a factory worker Dev Raj, a resident of Shimlapuri near Sector 32 on Chandigarh Road. They had taken him to an ATM in the same area and had withdrawn Rs26,500 cash.
The police had recovered the CCTV footage from the Federal Bank ATM which helped the police in identifying the accused. The police also had the bike number of one of the accused, on the basis of which the police traced the residence of one of the accused in Tejpura. ACP South Amandeep Singh had then visited Federal Bank to conduct investigation.
