The third International Day of Yoga was celebrated today throughout the city. Be it hospitals, clubs, hotels or any other organisation everybody put their best foot forward to celebrate the day. People of almost all age groups celebrated the day with enthusiasm and joy.

District administration held a yoga camp at Rakh Bagh in association with the Ayurveda department and Patanjali Yogpeeth. People in large number participated in the camp which included sportspersons, students, officials and others.

The camp started at 6:30 am in the morning till 8 am. Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria speaking on the occasion said that yoga keeps the body and mind fit. “Yoga is an ancient form of exercise and it is very useful for our body in the time when we are busy every time and working under stress,” he said.

Five-day camp on yoga

International Day of Yoga was observed by Dayanand Medical College and Hospital by organising a five-day Yoga Camp from June 18 to June 22. Persons from different walks of life including businessman, self-employed, those in service and students participated in this five-day Yoga camp. The DMCH and Hero DMC Heart Institute runs a Yoga Consultation Services for the treatment of ailing patients admitted in DMC and HDHI, informed Principal Dr Sandeep Puri and Chief Cardiologist Dr GS Wander. A yoga consultant, Dr Sanjeev Singh Rawat, demonstrated various yoga asanas to those present on the occasion. He said, it is very essential these days to promote a healthy life style.

Celebrations at Verka milk plant

Verka celebrated the day by conducting a one-day yoga camp at all Verka milk plants. Verka employees participated in the session with great enthusiasm. Considering the rise in the cases of various stress related health issues such as diabetes, hypertension, etc., it was important to align the body, mind and soul. With a view to spread more awareness amongst the employees the session turned out to be a success.

Emphasising on the regular usage of Yoga practice in our daily life Manjit Brar, MD, MILKFED said , “Yoga is essential for a holistic mental and physical well being. It is the best way to stay healthy, combat diseases and beat stress.” The staff and guests at Radisson Blu Hotel MBD Ludhiana and MBD neopolis mall performed yoga asanas at Paisley Banquets and poolside area in hotel today morning.
