Ludhiana, August 14
Teachers of various aided colleges of Ludhiana district today met Ravneet Bittu (MP, Ludhiana) and submitted their memorandum of demands.
The teachers claimed that from a long period higher education has been neglected by the state government. They highlighted that existing regulations of the UGC are against the contractual appointments but the Punjab government overrides these regulations and recruited total new faculty on contract.
These teachers were recruited on contract for three years by the Punjab Government under its new grant in aid scheme on basic salary. Ironically, even after passing the two years of their service, the government still failed to formulate policy for their regularisation.
Now teachers have decided to submitted memorandum to all 117 MLA’s. They appreciated the Punjab Government decision to ban the contractual appointment in future as it is against the idea ofnatural justice.
Therefore, they urged to Ravneet Bittu that their service should be regularised and contractual period should be treated as probation period.
They also demand for the fixation of probation period for two years as the state government has reduced probation period from three to two years in some departments.
The MP, Ravneet Bittu, assured them that he will put forward their demands in front of the CM Captain Amarinder Singh and education minister Aruna Chaudhary.
