DAV for Green Diwali

LUDHIANA: DAV School, Pakhowal Road, celebrated the festival of lights with great fun and joy. Principal Satwant Kaur Bhullar urged students to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali.

Ludhiana: DAV School, Pakhowal Road, celebrated the festival of lights with great fun and joy. Principal Satwant Kaur Bhullar urged students to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali. The tiny tots marched around the school and raised slogans to save environment. Teachers talked about the significance of the festival. Students participated in a group rangoli competition.

BVM celebrates Diwali

At Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Sri Sunder Kaand Paath was recited. In the morning assembly, schoolteacher Anupam Tara told students about the significance of pollution-free and noise-free Diwali. Principal Bandana Sethi extended her heartiest greetings on this festive occasion. An inspirational documentary was shown to the students focusing on the promotion of Bhartiyan way of celebrations, highlighting anecdotes from the Ramayana.

Rangoli contest

At Brats n Cuties Pre-School, mothers participated in a rangoli making competition. Besides sensitising parents and students to the ill-effects of crackers, teachers also shared the guidelines for being safe. Kids enjoyed various stalls, like tattoo making, ring game and hit the pyramid.  The celebration concluded with a monkey show. 

Prayer, poem recitation

A special assembly was held at OP Bansal Modern School wherein speeches, prayer and poem recitation was conducted. A rally was taken out on the school premises to sensitise students to shun crackers and take the festival as an opportunity to reconnect with family. Various activities like card making, diya decoration and cultural programmes were held.

Exhibition

DAV School, BRS Nagar, exhibited the creativity of young artists at its Deepawali Craft Exhibition. Swaranjit Kaur, district education officer (secondary), was the guest of honour. She appreciated the diyas and candles decorated by the students, colourful rangolis, shagun envelopes, cushions, scarves and T-shirts painted by the students under the guidance of their teachers. 

Anti-cracker rally

BCM School, Sector 32-A, organised an anti-cracker rally. Principal DP Guleria, while flagging off the rally, said crackers should be banned. He urged children to take the message of not bursting crackers not only to their families, but also their neighborhood and adjoining colonies so that this initiative takes the shape of a movement. Students vowed not to burst crackers.

Festival of lights celebrated

At New GMT Public School, students and teachers showcased their talent by making various drawings and taking up other artistic activities. Rangoli patterns were admired by all. Self-made candles and diyas were also demonstrated. Principal Manjeet Kaur said Diwali should be celebrated sans crackers.

Celebrations with underpriviledged

Students of Childhood Kindergarten, Punjab Mata Nagar, were taken to an orphanage where they distributed gifts and sweets to underprivileged kids. The nuns at the orphanage taught them the value of sharing with the less fortunate. Kids participated in puja with bhajans. Sweets were distributed. Students were sensitised to cracker-less Diwali.

Special assembly

Diwali was celebrated with much exuberance at Guru Nanak International Public School. The day began with a special assembly in which the students were informed about the festival. Self decorated diyas and fruits were donated to the Old Age Home and Red Cross Society.

Call for cracker-less Diwali

Students of Green Land Senior Secondary Public School celebrated Diwali in a unique way. They called for cracker-less Diwali. Various competitions were held for students. 

Dance competition

With the aim of honing the dancing skills, Sahodya Folk Dance Competition was organised at the auditorium of Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar. There were two categories of dance competition — recorded music and live music. In recorded music category, Vardhman International Public School, DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, and Bal Bharati Public School won the top three prizes, respectively. 

Environment-friendly events

Doraha: At Doraha Public School, environment-friendly activities and festivities marked the day. Rangolis were made with herbal colours. Students made Diwali posters. — TNS
