Double delight for Jagraon school

LUDHIANA: Hosts St. Mahapragya Convent School, Jagraon, stamped their superiority by clinching two titles in the ASISC Football Competition held yesterday.

Hosts St. Mahapragya Convent School, Jagraon, stamped their superiority by clinching two titles in the ASISC Football Competition held yesterday.

Teams from nine schools in the junior section, while four teams in the senior category battled it out for top honours in this competition, and in both sections, hosts emerged champions.

In the semi-finals (junior), St. Mahapragya Convent School drubbed Sat Paul Mittal School 4-0 and Sacred Heart Convent School, Sahnewal, prevailed over Sacred Heart Convent School, Samrala 1-0 to assure themselves berths in the final.

In the final, St. Mahapragya Convent School proved too good for Sacred Heart Convent School, Sahnewal, whom they outclassed 5-2 to lift the title. In the semi-finals (senior), St. Mahapragaya Convent School fought it tooth and nail to outplay Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamalpur (Ludhiana) 2-1, while Sat Paul Mittal School thrashed Sacred Heart Convent School, Sahnewal, 6-0 to book berths in the title clash.

In the final, St. Mahapragaya Convent School got the better of Sat Paul Mittal School 1-0 to fetch the title.

With these victories, St. Mahapragaya Convent School, Jagraon, qualified for the ASISC Regional Football Championship.

Vishal Jain, Director of the school, Rinku Rekhi and Lakhwinder Singh, principal and vice-principal, respectively, gave away prizes to the position holders.
