Heartbreak led to domestic help''s suicide

A day after the domestic help working at the house of a government contractor Gurvinder Singh had committed suicide, it come to the fore that the girl had taken the extreme step due to her failed love.

A day after the domestic help working at the house of a government contractor Gurvinder Singh had committed suicide, it come to the fore that the girl had taken the extreme step due to her failed love.

The police said the 17-year-old girl had an affair with a boy and wanted to marry him, but he got married to someone else. “When she (the deceased) came to about the boy’s wedding, she went under depression and decided to end her life,” said Suman, a close friend of the deceased.

“About four hours before she committed suicide, the girl had abused the boy on a phone call for ditching her. A few hours later, we came to know that she committed suicide,” Suman told police.

Surendra Lamba, ADCP, said the police was investigating the love angle.

The police have registered a case against kin of the deceased for beating up SHO Vinod Kumar during a protest.
