Members of Shri Hindu Takht Organisation today held a protest outside the Sutlej Club on Mall Road. They were demanding action against the club management and fashion designer Rohit Verma for insulting Hindu saints (sadhus) at the fashion show event organised at the club yesterday.

The protest was led by Hindu leader Varun Mehta.

Later, ACP (West) Gurpreet Singh reached the spot and assured protesters to conduct an inquiry in the matter.

Mehta said fashion designer Rohit had invited several saints to the fashion show event. Designer had invited them on the pretext that a religious event was being organised at the club, but he made them sit and stand on the stage where models were doing catwalk, he added.

“Today we were approached by several saints, who alleged that they were not even served food for the whole day. They also alleged that fashion designer had lied to them that their presence was solicited at the religious event,” Mehta asserted. “A complaint will also be lodged with the Police Commissioner, RN Dhoke, to register an FIR against fashion designer and the club management for hurting religious sentiments,” he added.

Meanwhile, despite several attempts Ruchi Bawa, general secretary of the club, did not attend the phone call.
