LUDHIANA: A hosiery trader was robbed of Rs 96,000 by two bike-borne miscreants near PAU Gate No.8 on the Canal road late this evening.

A hosiery trader was robbed of Rs 96,000 by two bike-borne miscreants near PAU Gate No. 8 on the Canal road late this evening.

The victim, Gaurav Gupta, a resident of Sher-e-Punjab Enclave, who owns a hosiery outlet in Chaura Bazar, told the police that he had withdrawn cash from a bank today. He was heading towards home after closing the shop.

The moment he reached near the PAU Gate, he was cornered by two bike-borne miscreants.

The miscreants asked him to handover cash else threatened him of dire consequences. When he protested the move, they slit his pocket with some sharp weapon and fled with the cash, the victim said, adding he sustained minor injuries in the incident.

The police started the investigation and were collecting CCTV footage to get any clue about the miscreants.
