Ludhiana: Police DAV Public School, Police Line, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, celebrated Independence Day and Janmashtami on the school premises.



Ludhiana: Police DAV Public School, Police Line, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, celebrated Independence Day and Janmashtami on the school premises. Students of Primary section were energised with patriotic and religious sentiments. Kindergartener students sang patriotic songs. Students of classes I and II came dressed up in specific attires of national heroes and exhibited their speaking skills by reciting poems, slogans and dialogues with the underline theme 'Saluting Our Motherland'. The aim of the celebration was to remember and pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the Nation.

GMT Public School 

The school celebrated Independence Day with zeal. The tricolour was unfurled on the school premises. Thereafter, cultural a programme began with the lighting of the lamp. Students recited patriotic poems and songs. Krishna janamashtmi was also celebrated with great pomp and show by the students. Children came dressed as Krishna and Radha and other colourful outfits. Children celebrated the occasion by singing and dancing with great joy. Later, they enjoyed some fresh butter and khir.

Guru Gobind Singh school

Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Pakhowal Road, celebrated Independence Day on its premises with great enthusiasm and reverence. Students decorated their classes with balloons and flags. Students delivered a speech on importance of Independence Day and a poster making competition was held in the school for classes V to X. Teachers paid homage to the freedom fighters by singing patriotic group songs. At the end of the ceremony, tricolor ribbons were tied on the wrists of parents and children. Gifts and sweets were distributed among the students and guests.

Dil’s Nursery School

To revive the spirit of patriotism, Independence Day was celebrated at the school in Model Town Extension with great zeal and fervour. The school was decorated with Tricolour balloons, flags and kites. The children came dressed up in white with tricolor head bands and badges. They saluted the national flag and patriotic songs were sung by children and staff. Dr Rajinder Kumar, consultant psychiatrist at Dr Dil Hospital was the chief guest. He spoke about the importance of celebrating Independence Day. The Principal, Harbans Kaur, gave medals to meritorious children and distributed sweets.

Fancy dress competition held

A fancy dress competition was organised to celebrate Independence Day on the school premises. The students of classes I to V participated with great enthusiasm. The students of I and II classes depicted the lives of various freedom fighters through a role play. The students of classes IV and V pay tribute to the freedom fighters in the form of fancy dress competition. The activities proved fruitful as it helped students to know about great freedom fighters of India. The winners were felicitated by the judges.

Qawwali contest at Blossoms 

Blossoms Convent School, Sidhwan Bet Road, Jagraon, organised an inter-house qawwali competition for the students. In this competition, the students showcased their talent. The first prize was won by Kalpana House whereas II by APJ Abdul Kalam House.  Robindra Nath Tagore House secured III and Pratibha Patel House had to satisfy with IV position in this competition.
