Keeping up the tradition of marvellous results, students of Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, have again excelled in Panjab University, examinations for BSc (Hons) Biotechnology, semester-II.

Keeping up the tradition of marvellous results, students of Khalsa College for women, Civil Lines, have again excelled in Panjab University, examinations for BSc (Hons) Biotechnology, semester-II. Eshita Jain has topped the university by scoring 85.4 per cent. Jaspreet Kaur stood II in the university by securing 84.4 per cent, while Sukhdeep Kaur bagged VI position with 82.2 per cent marks. Students owed their success to college, their teachers and parents. The overall result of the college is 100 per cent with all students passing with the first division. The college Management and the Principal Dr. Mukti Gill congratulated the students for bringing laurels to their college.

Auditions for Miss India Exquisite

The Bajaj College campus stayed abuzz with a starry audition event for Miss India Exquisite on Friday. Students of the college were delighted to participate in the auditions and get a glimpse of famous Big Boss stars, fashion designer Kawaljit Singh and Bollywood choreographer Imam Siddiqui. It was a double bonanza for the students of the Department of Fashion Designing who got a chance to meet their idol Kawaljit Singh and got first hand tips to master the traits of the trade.

NAAC team visits GHG Harparkash College

A team from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) visited the GHG Harparkash College of Education for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, on October 9 and October 10 for reaccreditation Cycle 2 of the college. The team headed by Prof Rameshchandra G Kothari, former VC, Prof of Education, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vododra, Gujarat. Dr NK Bansal, former principal, Hindu College of Education, Sonepat, Haryana; and Prof Marion Mathew, head and dean, Allahabad School of Education, SHIATS University, Post-Agriculture Institute, Allahabad, interacted with principal Dr Baljeet Kaur Gill, Managing Trust of Sidhwan Institutions, staff, students and alumni. The team visited all departments, library, labs, resource centres, auditorium and support services.

Diwali exhibition

Women Cell, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana , organised an exhibition-cum-sale of products such as diyas, statues, candles, envelops, napkins made by Divyang children in collaboration with the team who is running 87 resource rooms at district level under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan. This district special resource centre imparts educational as well as vocational training to help them to be independent to earn their livelihood.

Lecture on literary criticism

The Post Graduate Department of English of the Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, held an extension lecture by Dr Aneel Raina, Professor, Department of English and Cultural Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, on Friday. Dr Raina delivered lectures on literary theory and criticism. He emphasised from the beginning of literary theory to its present application in the field of literature. Dr Raina also apprised students about the role of criticism and literature in society. He also explained that the main function of a critic was not only to see but to perceive a familiar thing and charge it with fresh energy. The session was followed by an animated interaction with the students. On the occasion, Principal Manjit Kaur Ghuman underlined the relevance of such lectures which throw light on the inter-relation of literature and life.

Installation ceremony

In the series of various social service programmes, the installation ceremony of Rotaract Club was celebrated with great zeal in the campus of the DD Jain College of Education, Kidwai Nagar. Shazia Masih was elected as the president of the club followed by Taranjeet Kaur as the Vice-President, Priyanka Grover as the Treasurer along with Shweta Khanna, Prabhjeet Kaur, Bhavi, Simranjeet, Shivangi Sharma, Akshita and Simple Kumari as Directors.— TNS
