Ludhiana, October 15

A 50-year-old woman has been killed by her son after she refused to serve him lunch. The deceased has been identified as Raj Rani (50). Munish Kumar, alias Himanshu (25), a resident of Chimni road, Shimlapuri, slit his mother Raj Rani’s throat with a saw.

Himanshu was arrested today on a complaint of Chandar Prakash, brother of the deceased. Chandar said on October 14, when he was at his workplace, he got a call from his brother Munish at 9.27 pm. Munish informed him that he had killed their mother as she refused to serve him food. According to Chandar, Munish said: “Today afternoon, I requested my mother to give me lunch but she refused. She embarrassed me by saying that I am not doing any work, thus doesn’t deserve food. I picked up a saw lying in the house and slit my mother’s throat. I dumped her body in a box bed.”

Chandar rushed to the home and found her mother lying in a pool of blood in the box bed.

Sources said Munish fled the house after killing his mother. Shimlapuri SHO Mohammad Jamil said during preliminary questioning, the accused told the police that he had been unemployed for the past several years, due to which he was facing embarrassment at the hands of his mother. His mother had refused to serve him food many times, the SHO added.
