Ludhiana: A meeting to discuss the problems of Ward Number 39 of the Ludhiana Central constituency was held here on Sunday. MLA Surinder Dawar, along with other leaders, attended the meeting.



Ludhiana: A meeting to discuss the problems of Ward Number 39 of the Ludhiana Central constituency was held here on Sunday. MLA Surinder Dawar, along with other leaders, attended the meeting. He promised the local residents that he would keep addressing their problems on priority. Regarding the issues of  blue cards and pension, he said the area residents could meet him to present their case.  Highlighting the achievements of the Congress government, he said the party, under the leadership of Capt Amarinder Singh, had fulfilled many of its pre-election promises within a short span of three months. He thanked the people for voting the Congress to power in the state and electing him MLA from Ludhiana. TNS

Speeding vehicle claims life

Ludhiana: Paramjit Singh, a resident of Lakhowal Kalan village, was killed when a tractor hit the motor cycle, he was riding. The tractor driver was identified as Binder Singh, a resident of Dhaolanwal village. The victim’s wife, Baljit Kaur, complained to the police that the victim and his nephew were going to their village on a motor cycle. When they reached near Ratangarh (Chauta), Binder Singh suddenly banged his tractor into their bike. The complainant stated that her husband Paramjit sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to Fortis Hospital, where he died. A case was registered under Sections 279, 304 A and 427 of the Indian Penal Code against Binder Singh at the Koomkalan police station. TNS 

Man booked for assaulting wife

Ludhiana: A resident of LIG flats, Sector 32, Anita, has lodged a complaint against Reshma Krishnan and Ranjit Ravindran at the police station No. 7. According to the complainant, she got married to Ranjit Ravindran in 2008. The marriage was in trouble as her husband used to fight with her over trivial matters, alleged Anita. Thereafter, she started living separately in LIG flats. On June 10, when Anita was going to her workplace, her husband Ranjit Ravindran and Reshma Krishnan stopped her near the street and thrashed her in the full public view. They also threatened her of dire consequences, alleged the complainant. The police have registered a case under Sections 323, 341, 506 and 34 of the IPC against the accused. SI Gurdev Singh is investigating the case. TNS
