Gurbachan Singh, son of Mela Singh of village Bilga, was married to deceased Navdeep Kaur six years ago. They did not have any issue. Gurbachan Singh, on whose statement the case was registered at Sahnewal police station, told the police that on Saturday, he took his father to a doctor while his mother had already gone to attend a bhog ceremony nearby. As Gurbachan Singh returned home, the deceased told her husband about it, who along with his father went to Mandeep's home to complain about his behaviour. In the meanwhile, they got the news that Navdeep committed suicide by consuming something poisonous. Her husband ran home and took her to Sidhu hospital, Doraha, where she survived just for the next two-three hours. Investigating Officer Randhir Singh said the body of the deceased had been sent for postmortem examination and the accused was still at large.
