Satguru Thakur Dalip Singh, brother of Satguru Uday Singh of Namdhari Sect, has urged his followers to feed the poor and provide them other necessities instead of offering him garlands, flowers or other expensive gifts on the occasion of his birthday celebrations, which began today.

This information was given by Namdhari Panthak Ekta in a statement here today.

Thakur Dalip Singh said, “On my birthday, if you will offer food to poor and bring smile on their faces, that will be the real birthday gift for me and I will accept them wholeheartedly.”

“If you want to offer me a rose worth Rs 20 on my birthday, I will rather be happy if you buy a slipper (chappal) for a poor child for the same money. Instead of offering me flower bouquet worth Rs 600, buy a poor family 30 kg flour, which can feed them for the whole month,” said the Satguru while exhorting followers.

Satguru said, “Instead of cutting cake one should prepare ‘karah parsad’ because it suits our country’s culture and religious needs.”
