Ludhiana: The Haibowal police booked a man on the charge of building illegal colony. The accused was identified as Amarjit Puri, a resident of New Deep Nagar. The complainant, Ashish, a junior engineer in GLADA stated to the police that the accused had constructed an illegal colony in Ladian Kalan village and named it as Modern City. With this, builder violated the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act. A case under Section 36 (1) of the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act has been registered against the accused.

Man booked for property fraud

The Sadar police booked a man on the charge of property fraud. The accused has been identified as Parvinder Singh, a resident of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. The complainant Harpreet Singh of BRS Nagar said he had purchased a plot from Parvinder at Rs 40 lakh but, the accused later refused to prepare the sale deed.

Woman booked for fraud

The Ladowal police booked a woman on the charge of fraud. She was identified as Gurdeep Kaur, a resident of Hazuri Bagh Colony. The complainant Surinder Singh of New Janakpuri stated to the police that he had given Rs 5 lakh to the accused to buy a plot but, she later, refused to prepare a sale deed. Now, she also refused to return the advance money, he added. The police has launched a probe.

2 held for filling LPG cylinders

The city police booked two persons on the charge of filling LPG cylinders illegally. They were identified as Amit Kumar of Uttar Pradesh and Anwar Ali of Bihari Colony here. Inspector Rajesh Kumar, CIA (2), said acting on a tip off a raid was conducted at a shop in Ishwar Colony where the accused were caught red handed while they were filling the LPG cylinders illegally. The police also recovered 25 cylinders from their possession. A case under 7 EC Act was registered against the accused.

Three booked for kidnapping

The Dehlon police booked three persons on the charge of thrashing and kidnapping a man. The accused were identified as Prasun Singh of New Aman Nagar, Harmeet Singh of Guru Sagar Colony and one unknown person. The complainant Gurmeset Singh of Mukandpur village stated to the police the accused barged into his house yesterday. He said they thrashed him and later, also vandalised his house. They then bundled him in a car and dropped him near the police station. Sources said old enmity was the reason behind kidnapping. The police have launched a probe in the case. No arrests have been made.

Two held with 20-kg poppy husk

The Dugri police nabbed two drug peddlers and recovered 20 kg poppy husk from their possession. They were identified as Beant Singh and Chamkor Singh, both residents of Patiala. Investigating officer, ASI Rampal, said a car was stopped for checking on suspicion during a routine naka on the GT road at Dehlon. During search of the vehicle the police recovered 20 kg poppy. The police said the accused were on way to supply narcotics to their clients. A police remand of the accused would be sought to find out about their drug network, added the ASI. 

Nine arrested for gambling

The police arrested nine persons on the charge of gambling. The accused have been identified as Manoj Kumar, Rinku Behal, Savinder Singh, Hakikat Rai, Tarsem, Darshan Lal and Sanjiv Kumar of the Tibba road, besides Tilak Raj of Vishkarma Nagar and Birju Ram of the Tajpur road. The police also recovered more than Rs 25,000 in cash from the accused. A case under the Gambling Act was registered against the nine culprits. TNS
