A mega event to mark Independence Day celebrations — Zaika-e-Hindustan — the Great Indian Food Festival 2017 — was organised at the PCTE Group of Institutes here today.
The department of hotel management prepared special dishes from 17 states of India, including Punjab, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, J&K, Goa, Orissa, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Sikkim among others.
General Manager, Ajai Punj, executive chef Vikas Grover of Hotel Park Plaza, chef Hitesh Arora ,training manager of Hyatt Regency Abhinav ,training manager of Radisson Blu Jeetendra and chef Sudhanshu Rajhans from Maharaja Grand inaugurated the food fest.
The food fest included regional dance performances by the students giving a tribute to R D Burman, the fest was a big hit where students of DAV Public School (BRS nagar), BCM Arya Model School and DAV Public School (Pakhowal road) had a fantastic experience and were extremely curious about the food fest and were keen to taste all the different dishes.
Anirban Gupta, Dean, PCTE-IHM, said India is considered to be a nation which is known for its diversity. He added that the entire fest is based on showcasing the diverse culture of the country whereby students prepared a total of 110 dishes representing various states.
