Ludhiana: A team of Special Task Force (STF), led by Inspector Beant Juneja, nabbed a proclaimed offender (PO) Gurjinder Singh Sahni.



Ludhiana: A team of Special Task Force (STF), led by Inspector Beant Juneja, nabbed a proclaimed offender (PO) Gurjinder Singh Sahni. The accused is an advocate by profession. He was wanted in attempt to murder case registered against him on January 1, 2016, at the Police Division No. 5. Juneja said the complainant in the case was Mohammad Guljish, who was working in a juice bar at the court complex. He was thrown from the third floor of the building by the accused. After Sahni avoided arrest, he was declared a PO by the court.

1 booked for second marriage 

Officials of the Haibowal police station booked Gaurav Handa of Hakikat Nagar on the charge of solemnising second marriage. Three of his aides were also booked by the police for helping him in preparing a fake birth certificate of his step daughter from his second wife. Other persons booked include Ashwani Handa of Hakikat Nagar, Ritesh Handa and Shivani Handa. A woman identified as Rose Marry, with whom the main accused Gaurav had illicit relations, was also booked in the case. A case under Sections 199, 200, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 494 and 120 B of the IPC has been registered.

Agent booked in travel fraud

The Shimlapuri police booked a man on the charge of travel fraud. The accused has been identified as Ravinder Singh, a resident of Shimlapuri. The complainant, Varun Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh, stated to the police that he had paid Rs 1.40 lakh to the agent for going abroad, but he did not arrange the visa for him. The victim said now the agent was not returning the money. The police is conducting raids to nab the accused.

Two minor boys go missing

Two minor boys went missing under mysterious circumstances. The complainant, Mohammad Irshad, a resident of Jagdish Colony, said his son Ruban (8) left home on June 18 and did not return. In yet another case, an 11-year-old boy of the same locality also went missing. The police have launched manhunt to recover the boys.

Four drug peddlers nabbed

The Dehlon police arrested four members of a drug peddlers gang, which has been active in supplying banned products among labourers and students of the region.The police also recovered 14 gm of heroin worth Rs 6 lakh in the international market from the possession of the accused identified Mandeep Singh of Jodhan, Gurvir Singh Gura, Tanvir Singh and Virpal Singh of Narangwal Kalan.Investigating officer Harjit Singh said the accused were nabbed when they were going to supply the contraband to addicts and couriers of the area.The police is yet to ascertain identity of other gang member, the source of the present consignment and exact modus operandi of the accused. Man booked on dowry charge

Ludhiana: The women cell of the police booked a man on the charge of dowry harassment. The accused has been identified as Baljinder Singh, a resident of Ropar. The complainant Gurjot Kaur of Jamalpur stated to the police that she got married to Baljinder in 2016. 

One booked for illegal construction

The Meharban police have booked a man on the charge of constructing an illegal colony. He was identified as Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Sundar Nagar. Officials of GLADA said in a complaint that he was constructing an illegal colony in Meharban village. TNS
