Relative stabs woman to death

Ludhiana, March 29

A woman was murdered in the Hazuri Bagh area of Bhattiyan village this morning. Sukhwinder Kaur, 37, wife of a street vendor, Mahindru, was stabbed to death by her relative Sukhdev Singh in a fit of rage.

The accused barged into the house and repeatedly stabbed Sukhwinder. Relatives said he believed Sukhwinder was responsible for his divorce.

After the demise of Mahindru’s sister, Sukhwinder got her own sister married to Sukhdev (husband of Mahindru’s sister). But she also divorced Sukhdev. Sukhdev held Sukhwinder responsible for the divorce and used to complain about it.

Sukhdev, reportedly in an inebriated condition, today barged to Sukhwinder’s house and killed her.

The police said the accused had been arrested and the body of the deceased sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem. — TNS
