Ludhiana, June 21

The third International Day of Yoga was celebrated at many places across the city. Trainees and staff of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Training Centre, Ludhiana, led by its in charge, Harbans Singh, too took part in the programme. It was organized with the help of a few social welfare organistions at Rakh Bagh, today.

The in charge said as per the directions from Director, SAI Northern Regional Centre, Chandigarh, the day was celebrated to spread the message of awareness about healthy and long life.

Different yoga asana and exercises were performed during this programme which was attended among others by Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria and Amrinder Singh Malhi, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana.

The programme began with the lighting of a traditional lamp. Krishan Lal Gupta and his associates demonstrated asanas and described its benefits.

The refreshment was provided to the participants by Verka Milk plant. A team led by Dr Manjit Singh was in attendance there to provide tips for healthy lifestyle.

DS Bal, Kishor Kumar, Inderjit Singh and Jasbir Singh, all coaches with the local SAI centre also attended the programme.
