Dr Dharam Singh Sandhu, Principal, SCD Govt College, will be bestowed with a state award for his contribution in the field of education.
He will be awarded at a state level function in Gurdaspur by the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
A press statement released by the college said that in just a short span of just three years when he assumed charge as Principal on August 1, 2014, the college has undergone a sea-change in terms of infrastructure, improvements in the teaching-learning process and steering the institution from strength to strength.
During his tenure, the college sailed through re-accreditation with Grade A by the NAAC. Dr Sandhu has been instrumental in introducing a host of new courses such as MSc Physics (first ever in Ludhiana); skill developments programmes through various tie-ups, construction of as many as 32 new smart classrooms at an estimated cost of Rs 60 lacs by arrangements with Higher Education Institute Society (HEIS) and Rashtriya Uchchtar Sikhsha Abhiyan (RUSA); establishment of Finishing School under RUSA.
