Second postmortem, too, says death due to hanging

In the case of suicide by a lawyer, the second postmortem examination conducted by the board of doctors state the lawyer died due to hanging only. Hence, the second report has corroborated the facts in the first one.

Yesterday, high drama took place at the Gau Ghat crematorium where lawyer Vishal Kumar (32) was to be cremated. He committed suicide at his office on the Tibba road on Friday night. Yesterday, when the body was taken to the cremation ground from Civil Hospital, the members of his family noticed bruises on the body and refused to cremate it. They demanded registration of a murder case. The family also blocked the Tajpur road to press for their demand.

Later, on a complaint of Sandeep, brother of the deceased, the police registered a murder case against Nishu Sodhi, who worked at the deceased’s office, her father Amarjit and two others.

Investigating officer Sukhdev Raj confirmed that a postmortem examination was conducted again by the board of doctors today. “Since the re-examination report of the doctors states hanging as the only cause of death, the police will pursue the case accordingly. We have also sent the recovered suicide note to a forensic laboratory to match the handwriting. Details of the booked persons’ mobiles are being checked to find their exact location at the time the lawyer committed suicide,” he said.
