The SSA and RMSA teachers haven’t got their salaries for the past two months. Didar Singh Mudki, state president of SSA-RMSA Teachers’ Union, said 14,000 teachers working under the SSA-RMSA scheme were facing a tough time as they hadn’t got their salaries even on the occasion of Diwali.
Mudki said SSA-RMSA teachers had been struggling for job regularisation for the past nine years. “By not paying salaries for the past two months, the government has caused financial and mental harassment to teachers. It is difficult to pay children’s fees, electricity bills, get treatment for the ill at home under such circumstances. By not releasing salaries in the days of festivals, the Congress-led state government is showing its apathy towards employees and their families,” he said.
The union demanded timely salaries from the government and threatened to intensify its stir in case its demands were not met.
