Team to hoist Tricolour in J&K

Ludhiana: President of Shaheed-e-azam Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust, Ashok Thapar, along with Sandeep Thapar and 31 others started their Srinagar Yatra from here on Sunday.



Ludhiana: President of Shaheed-e-azam Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust, Ashok Thapar, along with Sandeep Thapar and 31 others started their Srinagar Yatra from here on Sunday.  The delegation along with 101 members from Pathankot will hoist the Tricolour at Lal Chowk in Kashmir on August 15. A floral send-off was given to the delegation. Thapar said the motive was to bring back the memories of Sukhdev Thapar, a great martyr who sacrificed his life for getting independence for India. He said the yatra would be welcomed all over in Phagwara, Jalandhar, Mukerian and Pathankot among other places. The delegation said for the last two years, some anti-national elements were not letting them hoist the Tricolor at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, but this time, the delegation would move forward to pay tributes to those who sacrificed their lives, including the brave soldiers.

Free consultation on I-Day

City-based pioneer laparoscopic surgeon Dr Kuldip Singh has announced free consultation and surgeries to patients on Independence Day. He said the basis of medical profession is to serve the ailing humanity without any consideration of financial implications. It has commitment to serve the humanity by keeping everyone as equal. He says that he has got every distinction and achievements from his patients and the society and would be happy to serve the humanity in the future. He said from August 15 to the month end, he would offer free consultation and all operations related to gall bladder and kidney stones and others surgeries for free. He said the patient had to bear only expenses of medicine and stay in the hospital. The consultation and surgical fee shall not be charged.

Abetment of suicide: Wife booked 

The Salem Tabri police have booked a woman for abetting the suicide of her husband. Joga Singh, 23, resident of Ashok Nagar Salem Tabri had committed suicide due to the alleged mental harassment extended by his wife. Deceased's father Chanan Singh had told the police that his son, who was into the garments' business, consumed poison yesterday. He got married to Simran Kaur just four months ago. Singh alleged that due to the mental harassment his son committed suicide. The police said a raid was on to nab the woman.

20-year-old girl goes missing

A 20-year-old girl went missing under mysterious circumstances. Parshotam Lal of Jodhewal told the police that on July 18, his daughter left home without informing the family and he suspects that she could have been kept under illegal confinement by someone. The police have launched a manhunt.

Minor ‘kidnapped’

A man allegedly kidnapped a 14-year-ol girl. Complainant Sham Sunder of Bhamian Kalan told the police that on August 11 the accused Ravi Kumar also of Bhamian Kalan kidnapped his daughter by luring her for marriage. The police said it could be a case of elopement and raids were on to nab the accused.

Cyber fraud: Man loses Rs 22k 

Cyber criminals targeted a man and stole Rs 22,200 from his ATM card. Sunny of Fateh Singh Nagar said he got a message of withdrawal of Rs 22,000 from his account whereas the ATM cards were in his possession. The police said the case was sent to the cyber crime wing for further probe. — TNS
