Shopkeepers of Ghumar Mandi held a protest today against the traffic police for harassing customers visiting the market for shopping. The Ghumar Mandi road was blocked during the protest.
The Ghumar Mandi Welfare Association president, Pawan Batra, said one of the customers parked his car outside a shop today. As he entered the shop for buying things, a tow-away van of the traffic police immediately took away his car, he added.
“The car was parked inside the yellow line on road. One of its tyre was only half inch out of the line due to which the traffic police attempted to issue challan to the customer. When shopkeepers noticed the presence of tow-away van, they all gathered and protested against the move," he said.
Later, senior officers of the traffic police assured that till the time festival season was on, no vehicle would be towed away in Ghumar Mandi. The protest was lifted by shopkeepers after the assurance, said Batra.
