Ludhiana, August 10
Two more persons from Ludhiana have tested positive for dengue. With this, the total number of positive patients has gone to 14.
In addition to this, a patient belonging to other district and three patients belonging to other states have been admitted to the city hospitals and are getting treatment for dengue.
Keeping in view the fact that awareness is the key to check the spread of dengue, the Health Department is on a poster war and has started posting awareness posters in different parts of the city.
“Stress is being laid in areas that are at high risk and from where more number of patients was detected every year. We are pasting posters to create awareness among the masses explaining the precautions to be taken against dengue,” said Dr Ramesh, District Epidemiologist. According to the Health Department, nearly 30,000 pamphlets giving information regarding dengue have been distributed while 10,000 have been pasted on the walls.
These posters contain information regarding dengue, the mosquito that spreads it and places where it is likely to breed, how to distinguish this mosquito, precautions against dengue and symptoms of dengue fever.
Dr Ramesh said fogging was regularly being done and now the department was laying stress on creating awareness.
“Anybody who will get a pamphlet will read it once and if people start following the instructions our goal will be accomplished,” he said.Precautions
