‘My Stamp’ inaugurated at philately exhibition

LUDHIANA: On the concluding day of the philately exhibition, Lupex-2014, organised by the Postal Department, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Suresh Kumar Sharma and Senior Postmaster SP Pahwa said a postage stamp, “My Stamp”, was inaugurated today.

On the concluding day of the philately exhibition, Lupex-2014, organised by the Postal Department, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Suresh Kumar Sharma and Senior Postmaster SP Pahwa said a postage stamp, “My Stamp”, was inaugurated today.

Sharma said through “My Stamp”, one could get postage stamp with one’s own picture. On “My Stamp”, one could get own personal picture printed on a postage stamp and this stamp could be used.

Sharma said they got the printer for printing the postage stamps in the evening. The postage stamp would be available at a cost of Rs 300.

He said bookings for postage stamps for the ICC World Cup-2015 were made today. The cost of a miniature sheet for the World Cup is Rs 550.

Philatelist Mukesh Malhotra said it was good that “My Stamp” had been started at the post offices. Philatelists in the city were demanding since long to start the stamp.

Philatelist Yashpal Bangia brought his “philately scooter” today, which had the impressions of postage stamps.

The results of the exhibition were also declared. In the senior category of the philately competition, the first prize was won by Bhuvan Mehta for his collection “Sheetlets of India”, while Narinder Pal Singh and Dr Kanwar won the second prize for their respective collections on Extraordinary Stamps and Birds. The third prize was given to Rajpal Oswal for his collection on Braille.

In the junior category, which was for the participants till the age of 14, the joint first prize went to Kultaran Singh and Sandli Battra for their respective collections on Sikhism and Discover India.
