Chandigarh, January 30

A three-member team of the Quality Council of India (QCI) arrived here today for the Swachh Sarvekshan-2017 survey for clean city.

The team will be in Chandigarh for two days. On the first day of its visit, the team members visited Sector 17 bus stand, Sector 26 Grain and Vegetable Market, Indira Colony and several other areas of the city.

The team members toured the city and collected data, which were uploaded to an online portal from the spot.

MC Joint Commissioner Manoj Khatri said the team was visiting different areas of the city and would accordingly give marks to Chandigarh. The team would visit various areas in Chandigarh tomorrow as well.

According to MC officials, the Swachh Survekshan survey would decide the rank of the city on the basis of the data provided by the corporation, data collected through direct observations, independent assessment and citizens’ feedback.

The Ministry of Urban Development has commissioned the Quality Council of India for an extensive survey on the progress of the Swachh Bharat Mission and rank 500 cities on sanitation and cleanliness.

The Swachh Survekshan - 2017 for ranking 500 cities started on January 4 and is to be completed by February 10.
