The Society for Health, Education and Women Empowerment Awareness (SHEWA) organised a free health check up camp at the Milan Kendra, Maldevta, here today. More than 45 persons from nearby area availed of the free services provided at the camp.
Dr Sujata Sanjay, gynaecologist at Sanjay Maternity Centre, Jakhan, said, “A woman is the foundation of a family. Her health is of prime importance, but unfortunately it is her health that gets neglected the most in the mad rush of day-to-day life. What to say about their health in remote villages where hygiene and health awareness are almost non-existent. It is to reach out to such women that SHEWA organises free women health camps from time to time. It aims at equipping them with knowledge about their personal health, giving them better access to health facilities and creating awareness about hygienic living. They will also be told about self-breast examination, family planning, ante-natal check-up and immunisation”.
The aim of the camps is not only to provide health services but also to create an environment where the community gets sensitised about health issues, said Pratik Sanjay, secretary, SHEWA.
