Amritsar, January 18
The Akal Takht Jathedar has cautioned that any picture of guru sans the divine circle in its background is prohibited.
Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh stated that a number of complaints had been received from India and overseas that calendars were being published with images of gurus but without the divine light effect in its background.
He said there was no culture of worshipping the photographs or offering “parshad” to images in Sikhism as only the Guru Granth Sahib was supreme. “Still some deviate from the path and get the images painted or published. If they do so, they must comply that the images of gurus have to possess a divine light in its background to differentiate it from ordinary images,” he said. — TNS
